Mentoring

Mentoring

Are you new to disaster work but well-grounded in other community work for justice and sustainability?

Are you a new emergency manager or headed in that direction? Holding a policy position or hoping to?

Are you a community leader, an elected official, or working through a faith-based or nonprofit organization to make your community more resilient to hazards and potential disasters?

Are you a student in high school, community college, university or a student of life and wanting to learn more through community based research or other methods of inquiry?

The US GDRA welcomes you all and will strive to put like-minded women and men together for informal dialogue, information exchange, and networking.  We do ask for a two-year commitment from potential mentors and for at least a six month commitment from those who seek a GDRA mentor. We will make every effort to suggest meaningful pairings but the GDRA’s role is to put the parties together, not to oversee or problem solve.

If you would like to be involved, on either side of this relationship, please email us at: usgdra@gmail.com and include "Mentoring" in the subject line.

Write a one-page letter about yourself and what you can give or want from a mentoring relationship. We look forward to hearing about your experience!
